New shows and one cancelled

As reported earlier, Guy Fieri and Rachael Ray are working on a new show, to premiere sometime this summer on The Food Network. Zap2it.com writes that Rachael described it as "the cooking equivalent of 'Dancing With the Stars.'"

Guy Fieri went on to say the competition is a
"brother and sister culinary battle," as he considers Rachael his "sister from another mister." The show is going to feature celebrities with varying degrees of culinary ability to come on the show and compete in two teams of five. "Rachael's going to get five, I'm going to get five and it's going to be battle royale!" teases Fieri.

And KansasCity.com reports that Jeff "Stretch" Rumaner, owner of Grinders in Kansas City of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives fame, is currently working on a potential television series with SpikeTV. The project, called “Hungry Men at Work,” will pair top chefs with men working dangerous jobs around the world.
“It’s not just another show where you throw ingredients in the bowl,” Stretch said this week. “It gives you the chemistry, the science behind the foods, like how cayenne helps the blood flow, the spinach has iron. We have great graphics too” — courtesy of the same team that does graphics for “Deadliest Warrior.”
Plans have episodes to be taped in the frozen tundra of North Dakota, with men fighting wilderness fires and drilling oil in the Arctic.

After his debut with Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, "Stretch" has appeared with Guy on Guy's Big Bite, the Guy Fieri Road Show in 2009, and is set to join Guy again on the road this Spring. He travels with America's Chefs entertaining the troops, and he has also appeared on ABC's “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and Discovery Channel's “Monster House.”

The Charlotte Observer reports this morning that the Guy Fieri Food Road Show appearance in Charlotte, NC, scheduled for May 18, 2011, has been cancelled. "Scoop Marketing, which was handling information on Fieri's appearance, would say only that a scheduling conflict forced the cancellation of Fieri's May 18 show at Ovens Auditorium."

"We regret to inform everyone that the Guy Fieri Food Road Show scheduled for May 18th has been cancelled," Ovens Auditorium wrote from Facebook. "All refunds will come from the origin of purchase."

Click here to visit Ticketmaster.com for refund information, or contact your ticket retailer or the Ovens Auditorium directly for a refund.
