Fan questions, Mid-October 2011

I've added a new page to this blog, Have a Question? At the end of each month (and sometimes part-way thru!), I'll share what fans are asking and what answers I could find for them. [Some answers are edited for brevity. ~D]

Barbara from South Carolina wrote, "I love food and love to cook. Everything looks so exciting and tasty on the show, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I cant afford to travel, but would love to with you on one show. To experience the food, fun and the people. My question is would you consider me this wonderful experience just once, PLEASE?"

Our answer: Guy's coming to South Carolina for Diners, Drive-ins and Dives this Fall - we don't have exact dates yet. You can email storyideas@tripledinfo.com for more information, and you can contact Guy's company directly at

Knuckle Sandwich LLC
575 W. College, Suite 202, Santa Rosa, CA 95401

Best of luck! And let us know how it goes?

Ford from Lockney asked, "I really enjoy 'Triple D'! Ask Guy to do a show where truck drivers can get to the location. Many times, experienced as a professional truck driver, the locations featured are such that a large, 80,000lb truck, are not allowed to travel. I love to eat, especially places 'off the hook', so, help out a hungry trucker! Do a show for us 'over-the-road' drivers.

Our answer: So glad to hear you enjoy the show! You can email your suggestion to storyideas@tripledinfo.com

---------------------------------------------

Roy from Anniston asked, "Where in Alabama can i find a decent plate of red beans and rice? Or do you all have a good recipe for some?"

Our answer: Guy suggests
Guy's Gumbo Shack - website
212 & 1/2 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope, AL 36532 - map
(251) 928-4100
www.guysgumbo.com

You can check out their recipe for Red Beans and Rice, or watch the video from Guy's Gumbo Shack. Guy also loved the Red Beans and Rice at Bunk Sandwiches in Portland, OR. Click here for their recipe. Hope that was what you were looking for!

---------------------------------------------

Maurida from San Antonio asked, "What kind of food does Guy Fieri prefer to cook?"

Our answer: What Guy cooks at home is very much like what he cooks on Guy's Big Bite. Pizza from his backyard wood oven, stir-fry Chinese food and Italian meats and pastas are staples.

---------------------------------------------

John from Kansas City asked, "Guy did a video for Rachael Ray from his home kitchen that had a 7' commercial range. Do you know what the brand was?"

Our answer That video was made a long time ago! Visit www.rachaelrayshow.com to view the video. Great find! We're told it's a Viking range.

---------------------------------------------

Leslie from Townsend asked, "Is Guy coming to DE to Helen's Sausage Hose. Rumor has it he is and if so when? We live around the corner and would love to see it. Thank you"

Our answer: We've heard the same rumor! Helen’s Famous Sausage House, Sambo’s Tavern and the Smyrna Diner have all been researched. Last minute decisions and changes prevent the production company from confirming exact dates and locations at this time.

We'll sure keep our ears open!

If you live so close to the Sausage House, it would be worth your time to visit with the owners and request permission to be there the day of the taping. Typically, shoots are closed to the public; guests are present at the shoot by previous arrangement and permission of the owners. Let us know how it goes!

---------------------------------------------

Kristen from Canada asked, "Where can i find/buy your red and black chef jacket? I am extremely desperate to get one by christmas to give as a gift. Any help that could be given to get a hold of one of these chef jackets would be extremely appreciated."

Our answer: They aren't marketed ... yet. That's been in the works for almost a year now. Every so often, one pops up for sale on eBay. We'll keep your email address at hand when we see one!

---------------------------------------------

Robin from Chicago asked, "Was Guy on a plane to Germany (from Chicago) on Sat., Oct. 8, 2011? If not, he has a twin who was signing autographs, lol. Just wondering if it was really him. Thanks :)"

Our answer: No. Guy was playing mini-golf with his boys that night. Sorry! October 8 from @GuyFieri, "Enjoyin' a weekend at home with Hunter and Ryder..." and @Guyfieri, "At Scandia mini golf with Ryder and Hunter. Ryder made a hole in one 3 times, last one on the 18th. Rockin it at age 5!"

---------------------------------------------

Regina from Long Island asked, "Just trying to find out where Guy recommends to eat in Boston, MA. Love his show and know his advice will be great. Traveling up there for a weekend to meet up with my son who is attending his first year of college.
Thanks!"

Our answer: Depending on what kind of place you're looking for, or what kind of food you're craving, in Boston, check out

Let's be real - Guy doesn't actually recommend these places. The folks who worked on the show recommend these places to him.

Guy just gets on a plane, gets picked up in a limo, and gets shuttled to each place for a couple of hours. Nothing more, nothing less.

Am totally real. With all due respect to the researchers (past and present) of the show, it's Guy's face on the TV. He's the spokesman for the restaurant recommendations.
